An absolute must read that takes all the control over your senses leaving you speechless and frustrated pleading for the torture to continue because you demand that the abuse you've been put through is not as worthy as what your willing to endure for this brilliantly written read to continue feeding you the rest of this story instead of leaving you empty and starving for more!

Extremely dark, fierce, raw, broken, a myriad of emotions, a non-stop bundle of gripping twists you never see coming and definitely wished they never had! Spine tingling chemistry and impossible to put down! A freaking awesome must read! Nov 19, Misty Schott rated it it was amazing. A totally captivating, twisted dark romance. First things first, this book does end on a cliffhanger. It will leave you wanting more and wondering what is going to happen next.
I am thoroughly enjoying this series so far. It is dark and twisted, just the way I like my dark romances. Jolie gets asked what it's like to be the daughter of a serial killer. She hates the question but a part of her understands the curiosity people have about her answer. If she answered truthfully she would tell them she A totally captivating, twisted dark romance. If she answered truthfully she would tell them she felt guilty and ashamed, but who would that help. She wants to be able to help children who need someone to talk to and she can't expect them to talk to her if she can't talk about her own life experiences.
Hayden has been planning to exact his revenge on Jolie and her father for the last ten years. He blames Jolie for her part in his mother's death and wants her and her father to pay.
So he kidnaps her and puts his revenge plans into effect. Grab this wonderfully written suspenseful dark romance to find out what he plans to do with Jolie now that he has her. Definitely a good story and I'm looking forward to reading the next book. Oct 28, Brandy Jo rated it it was amazing.
Shattered hearts is heart-stoppingly good!!! I cannot even begin to put in words how amazing this book is but I'm going to try. Jolie finds herself in a terrifyingly, dangerous situation after being kidnapped and will do anything she can to get free from the handsome madman. She is a strong woman who obviously doesn't give up easily and I like that in her character. Hayden has had only one thing on his mind for years and that's revenge. Jolie is somewhat going to be Shattered hearts is heart-stoppingly good!!! Jolie is somewhat going to be a means to an end of his continued suffering.
Just a pawn.
He begins to find it harder than he thought it would be to resist the woman he has tried to harden his heart towards. I can't help but already have a soft spot for Hayden. Wow this book is mind blowing and it's just getting started, which leaves me so so excited to find out what happens in the next book. It has danger, sex appeal, and tension and I couldn't put the book down. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. May 22, Charlotte rated it it was amazing. If you like dark romance, this is the book for you.
I really enjoyed shattered hearts and have flown on to the next book. I got the box set Jolie is the daughter of a serial killer. Struggles with her life and moving on from the horrors of her messed up family childhood. She is taken against her will and watch the events unfold. We see mainly things from her perspective but we do see Haydens perspective as Well. I actually love both characters even tho Hayden is the phsyco kidnapper with issue If you like dark romance, this is the book for you. I actually love both characters even tho Hayden is the phsyco kidnapper with issues.
Great book, written really well and we wouldn't expect anything less from Marrissa Farrer. I love her books she is one of my top favourite authors and I can't recommend her books enough. She provides you with a good solid, well written, full bodied read. Oct 20, Susan Angela Wallace rated it it was amazing. Shattered hearts by Marrisa Farrar. With her sexy body, fierce mind, and sharp mouth… The one thing I did not expect was Shattered hearts by Marrisa Farrar.
This was an absolutely fantastic read. I loved Jolie. How she was. At first I didn't like Hayden. And what a cliffhanger. Absolutely can't wait for book 2. This is a must read and I would highly recommend this book. Nov 04, Donna rated it it was amazing.
This book is about a girl Jolie who is the daughter of a serial killer. She gets kidnapped by a man Hayden who lost someone close to him when she was murdered by this killer. Hayden wants to get revenge on the imprisoned killer and the daughter, believing the daughter is somehow complicit in helping her father get away with murder. Hayden is attracted to Jolie, though he does not want to be, and struggles with his feelings for Jolie as she attempts to escape.
A warning to readers: This book This book is about a girl Jolie who is the daughter of a serial killer. A warning to readers: This book does end on a cliffhanger so they have to be prepared to read the next book if they want to see if Jolie and Hayden can reach an HEA. Oct 28, Linda rated it it was amazing. Jolie has suffered from being the daughter of a convicted serial killer, unaware that someone is plotting to use her to avenge the death of his mother, a death he blames Jolie for. Hayden will stop at nothing, using the vast fortune he has built since his mother's death for the sole purpose of revenge.
A great start to the new series, and with an ending like that it's good to know that the next book in the series will follow very soon! Yet another hit from Marissa Farrar, I've yet to read one of Jolie has suffered from being the daughter of a convicted serial killer, unaware that someone is plotting to use her to avenge the death of his mother, a death he blames Jolie for. Yet another hit from Marissa Farrar, I've yet to read one of her books and not enjoy it.
Jan 20, Terri West rated it liked it. This is a review of all books in the trilogy and to be fair I would probably rate them 3. The writing was good and the captivating push pull romance between our two H's throughout kept things moving. My biggest criticism, I think the story could have probably been done in 2 books.
Having said that, the story did pick up pace in the second and third books in the trilogy. Well worth reading, although not as dark as many I have read despite kidnap, murder and attempted rape being included al This is a review of all books in the trilogy and to be fair I would probably rate them 3.
Well worth reading, although not as dark as many I have read despite kidnap, murder and attempted rape being included along the line. Jan 19, Maggie rated it really liked it. Kidnapping and revenge Well written with good characters and dialogue. Definitely entertaining and worth a look. The tension is gripping and highly charged. I really enjoyed this one. The difficulty is, reviewing the storyline without giving away the plot.
It's simple and easy to follow but so captivating. Serial killers, kidnapping, revenge and all that goes with it. Highly recommend this one. Dec 30, Hillary Marek rated it it was amazing. Jason Momoa! That's the only person I could imagine playing the part of Hayden. This reads like a movie and I love that!!
I'm thinking Chloe Grace Moretz would play a really good Jolie. Am I right? Yeah I am! And for the part of Loretta Wait for it Michelle Gomez Dr. Go on. I'll wait. Oct 28, AMC rated it really liked it. This is part one of the two book series, without book two being yet released. Overall it was an interesting book that I enjoyed quite a lot. Likeable characters with good storyline, but I would not considered the story particularly dark. Certainly the hero did not give that impression. Hope the next book in the series is equally good if not better. Jan 31, Nichola Robinson rated it really liked it.
Ok firstly anyone expecting this to be a run of the mill romance Jolie is the daughter of a serial killer, Hayden is the son of one of his victims. Both feel they are in part responsible for her fathers crime with Jolie blaming herself for a lie she told as a child. Looking forward to the sequel. Jan 26, Shaun Walsh rated it really liked it. I absolutely loved this book! This book is a page turner, I could not put it down and I can't wait to dive into the next book.
The author doles out the mysteries of this book a little at a time, and you never know what is going to happen next. Both the H and h are painfully broken by the actions of one man, how they handle. This is one heck of a ride down the rabbit hole! Dec 05, April Collins rated it it was amazing. Kidnapped and locked away The main mc is in for long stay hidden away on a remote island.
Taken by someone who she doesnt know. She keeps her wits and powers through the struggles of where and what she's going through. Though the ending is a major cliffhanger but the 2nd book is out now. Nov 06, Nancy rated it it was amazing. I absolutely loved reading this book is was such a brilliantly written book that I was unable to put it down until the end.
Very gripping and hooks you in very quickly. Oct 25, Deb rated it it was amazing. From here, it is decided that to get him to back off, they need to determine who is the blood father of the twins, but because Petra is named the champion, having beaten the Duehgar fighter at the end of book 1, but things get more complicated. From here, it is decided that to get him to back off, they need to determine who is the blood father of the twins, but because of the prophecy, they have to be really careful who knows that Petra is related to Nicole.
She takes a leap of faith and again partners with Jasper to travel to see the one person in Faerie who could help them divine the truth of her paternity in hopes of preventing a civil war. Her people are too small to fight the Duerghar kingdom, and if the rumors are true that the Tuatha are returning, they will need all available fighters for the battle to come. As we have come to expect with the series, Petra learns an uncomfortable truth, but so does Jasper. Like the first book, there is a bit going on. Petra still does not want to forfeit her freedom on the Earthly realm.
She really hoped that being named champion, would be just that, a name and that she could return to her former life. However, things don't quite work out that way. She is suspended for missing her deadline for catching her original bounty in book 1, so to redeem herself, she is given the opportunity to partner with a human bounty hunter whose target is in Faerie. A witch with some serious mojo, and a close relationship with Ella Gray. I love the small overlap, and the intro to an ally that Petra can tap into as needed in future books.
So while Petra needs to go see Melusine with Jasper, she also has a bounty she needs to complete by the deadline, fight off more attacks from the assassins that can appear suddenly and disappear just as quickly anywhere in Faerie, and help her people and sister too. I have to admit I did not expect this to go where it did, and did start to see how this would just make Petra's life even more difficult. Her challenges just keep getting bigger and bigger. I'm on to the next book as I definitely need to see where this goes. Nov 09, Vintagebooklvr rated it really liked it.
Lots of action as the characters face challenges and threats. This is a full dive into the fae world that is not usually explored enough for my tastes in books like this. Politics, diplomacy, attempted take-overs, and visits to many fae lands enrich an adventure filled story. There is even blossoming romances that don't become gratuitous sex. There were some grammar problems but not too many to really annoy a reader. I had never read anything in this series or the Ella Grant series but was able Lots of action as the characters face challenges and threats.
I had never read anything in this series or the Ella Grant series but was able to pick up enough knowledge easily without being lost or overwhelmed in too much retelling of what went before.
Shattered Hearts (Bad Blood, #1) by Marissa Farrar
I want to see where this goes. Mar 26, Clarke rated it liked it. I liked this one better then the first. More happens and we see some connections develop. I'm not a fan of my characters running around from one emergency to another and that's pretty much how they live their lives.
